The Academic Institute, Inc. (TAI, Inc.) was founded in Bellevue, WA in 1980 by Sherrill O’Shaughnessy-Alexander. As a former high school teacher, Sherrill saw the need for an individualized approach tailored to the unique needs and abilities of every student. TAI, Inc. started as a tutoring agency and grew rapidly into the full-service educational consulting company it is today.

 

In 1986, TAI, Inc. became a Washington State approved high school. In 1990, TAI, Inc. was accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities and became an approved NCAA school. TAI, Inc. issues Washington State high school transcripts; the transcript is transferable to other high schools and accepted by colleges and universities.
