Achieve credits toward graduation in a flexible model

All of our classes are offered in our seven room school located in Bellevue, but you may also elect to take a semester class off-site. At TAI, Inc., we refer to this model as Distance Learning.

All distance learning courses are:

• Approved by the Washington State Board of Education since 1986.

• Accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools since 1990.

• Approved by NCAA Clearinghouse, which allows students to participate in NCAA college sports programs while enrolled in distance learning courses.

The Coursework

We offer distance learning courses for most college preparatory classes offered in local high schools. Courses may be designed at the remedial, intermediate or advanced honors levels. Advanced Placement classes are also available, as are a variety of electives.

For our distance learning students, TAI, Inc. provides:

• Personal guidance

• A credit plan with course requirements

• A set curriculum

• Tests and/or essay topics

• Detailed corrections of all tests and essays

• Support from an optional tutor

• Accredited transcript

Our curriculum is designed for a standard five-month semester. However, students are encouraged to work at a pace that is most appropriate for successful learning. Students often find that they complete a semester credit in two months.

Instruction Methods

Though the curriculum, accreditation, and grading are coordinated by TAI, Inc., we require that students be guided by a tutor throughout their coursework. 

Parents may choose to use a tutor from TAI, Inc., a tutor that has previously demonstrated success working with their student, or they may find a tutor by advertising locally. We offer optional support for the search and selection process, but compensation and schedules are to be determined between the parent and the tutor.

The role of the tutor is to provide one-on-one motivation and inspiration to the student. They are expected to communicate with the TAI, Inc. director regularly to review, revise or update the credit plan.

Quality Control

In order to ensure consistency and objectivity in the evaluation of our distance learning credits, TAI, Inc. has historically used a curriculum specialist to correct all essays and chapter tests. This practice not only ensures a high and regularized level of quality control, but it frees the instructors to focus on individualized and supportive instruction.
